Service Changes
CTC is proposing service reductions and fare increases for the Connect-A-Ride and West Anne Arundel Services. Please see this press release for more information and for the closing public meeting and time.
Meetings were held and the following service changes and fare changes were discussed.
The proposed Connect-A-Ride service changes are as follows:
- A Route: Hospital/South Laurel
- Add 6AM trip departing from South Laurel
- One-hour headways between 10:30AM and 2:30PM
- D Route: Laurel/Burtonsville
- Change from 1/2 hour to 1 hour headways
- Span of service changed to 6:30-10:00AM and 2:30-6:30PM
- Service to Laurel MARC eliminated - service will operate between Laurel and Burtonsville (Including Swietzer Lane)
- J Route: Laurel/Glen Burnie
- Weekdays: 7PM departure at Laurel Mall to terminate at Cromwell/Glen Burnie (after serving Freetown); 9PM departure eliminated.
- Saturday and Sunday service to retain current levels of service
- K Route: Arundel Mills/Odenton
- Weekdays: Eliminate service to Lake Village and to Arundel Crossing Industrial Park interior. Passengers needing to go to/from these areas will be able to utilize nearby stops
- Weekdays: Serve Odenton MARC Station in one direction only
- Weekdays: Last two departures will operate only to Meade Village (via Pioneer City, Stillmeadows, and Seven Oaks)
- Saturdays and Sundays: Service will operate between Arundel Mills and Meade Village (via Pioneer City, Stillmeadows, and Seven Oaks). Service to Telegraph Road and Odenton will be eliminated. Service will operate hourly.
- M Route: Odenton MARC Shuttle
- Service to be eliminated in its entirety
The proposed Howard Transit service changes are as follows:
- Gold Route - Columbia/Maryland Food Center
- Add midday and late evening service on a two-hour headway
- Add service to Gateway Overlook
- Purple Route - Laurel/Elkridge
- Weekday Service: modify route to service Patuxent Range Drive all day
- Add service to Purple Route on Saturdays between 9AM and 9PM
- Service will operate on a 2-hour headway on a streamlined alignment variation of the Weekday Purple
The proposed Connect-A-Ride fare changes are as follows:
Proposed fares are in bold
- Base Fare: $1.00 -> $2.00
- Reduced Fare (Senior/Persons with disabilities): $0.75 -> $1.00
- Transfers: $0.50 -> Free for two (2) hours
- Children (Ages 5 and Under): Free -> Free
- All-Day Pass: $4.00 -> $5.00
- Monthly Pass Regular: $58.00 -> $67.00
- Monthly Pass Reduced: $24.00 -> $33.00
- Ten-Trip Ticket Regular: $15.75 -> $18.00
- Ten-Trip Ticket Reduced: $6.75 -> $9.00
- RYDE (Connect-A-Ride ADA) Full Fare = $3.50 -> $4.00
Transit-speak glossary
- Headway: Amount of time which will pass between passage of a vehicle at a given point along a route
- Frequency: A meaurement of how often a service will operate
- Streamline: Restructuring of a route to allow for more service at a lesser cost while keeping most of the route's destinations intact
- Alignment: The actual path of a given route between start and finish
